‘The Anatomy of Being’ (Short Film)

Roles: Writer-Director, Abstract Mosaic Editing

Synopsis: A young man lies dead. A Coroner recites his post-mortem report. Intimate memories of the man’s past resonate among the personal artefacts left behind in his death, forming an experientially evocative timeline of his life. The anatomy of the man's life is dissected into fleeting fragments of subjective memory, forming a dreamlike mosaic of human experience.

‘The Anatomy of Being’ is an experientially-driven, experimental short film that stylistically dissects the intertwined duality between an individual’s corporeal and experiential existence — forming a kaleidoscopic, oneiric mosaic of a deceased man’s anatomical and experiential existence.

The Physiological and the Experiential conjoined through Memory. Skin and bone fade away, human experience endures.

This film incorporates a diverse array of formalistic elements to construct this existential mosaic, including:- A Coroner’s Report, Stills of Personal Artefacts, Microscopic Anatomical Imagery, Abstract Textures & Lighting Effects, Performative Portraits of Subjective Memory, and an eclectic Ambient Soundscape. This creative process involved the integration of multidisciplinary artistic fields within an abstract, mosaic montage sequence — fine-art illustrated/painted pieces, 35mm photographs and filmed sequences were all assimilated through a non-linear editing style.
